September 2007 through February 2008, Gerald F. Kaplan was the Court appointed Patient Care Ombudsman in connection with the federal bankruptcy proceedings of the Barnert Hospital, 680 Broadway, Paterson, NJ 07514-1472, in conjunction with Charles M. Golden, Esquire, Trustee OBERMAYER REBMANN MAXWELL & HIPPEL LLP, One Penn Center, 19th Floor, 1617 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19103
Since 2001, Mr. Kaplan has continued to lecture once or twice yearly to members of the American College of Plastic Surgeons, addressing best practice and risk management issues with both the general membership and with the graduating senior plastic surgical residents.
Through late 2005, Mr. Kaplan was a once or twice yearly lecturer and panel member for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, presenting Continuing Legal Education materials relating to medical malpractice issues. For five or six years during this period, he taught at the Jefferson Medical College, assisting and teaching in the freshman medical students’ Anatomy laboratory. Over the past 8 years or more he has presented risk management lectures at the American College of Surgeons national meetings and yearly lectures to the Senior Residents of the American College of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Mr. Kaplan has given yearly risk management lectures to the Senior Residents of the American College of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
